Question for August, 2019

How do we know what level of health we are sitting at?

Jodi O - Albury, Australia

Modo's Answer

This is such a great question and one that gets asked quite a bit. I have heard a prominent Enneagram teacher once say...

"Whatever level you 'think' you are, then subtract one or two levels."

This was said with a giggle, but it's quite a humbling thought. As it points to the fact that our own self awareness is quite difficult to measure... Because we don't know what we don't know, and we can't see past our own blind spots.

Additionally, having someone else try to determine our level of health is not always a good idea either, as they are only seeing a part of what makes up our personality and they will too have their own biases and filters of perception.

I wonder if a type who is liberated from personality would ask themselves this question? ? Perhaps it's enough to wonder, and remind ourselves that liberation is available to us in every given moment.

Through presence, we access greater awareness of ourselves and our personality patterns. Thus freeing us from our automated responses.

What do you think? I'd love to get your feedback in the comments below.
