Course Modules

1

Module 1: Introduction

In this module you will receive an overview of your Leadership Intensive course, ensuring that you are set up for success! We will also identify and define your “Why!” the reason you are spending your heartbeats undertaking this course? The gold, however, is in measuring your current skill level in the context of facilitation, so you can track your growth over the timeline of this course. You will also set up and commence practices which will allow you to intentionally and consciously embody your next level of development throughout each module in this course.

Module 2: Evolved Communication

The Evolved Communication module delves into advanced interpersonal skills essential for effective and meaningful interactions. It begins with adopting emotionally intelligent frames which facilitate exceptional outcomes in communication. The module then explores the different types of conversations, categorizing various forms of communication to tailor approaches accordingly. This brings clarity and purpose to your communication. We then explore how you can frame your conversations for success focuses on setting the right context and intent to achieve desired outcomes. Then you will learn how to track your conversations which provides strategies to monitor and evaluate ongoing dialogues, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with communication goals. This comprehensive module equips individuals with the tools to navigate and enhance all facets of their conversational landscape.

Module 3:  LAF Part 1 - Benchmarking & Rapport

This Leadership as Facilitation (LAF) module starts by exploring benchmarking for your continuous improvement. Benchmarking is an important skill in measuring the ‘soft’ or more ‘intangible’ skills that you will be learning throughout this course. It allows you to break down a skill into its ‘operations’ or ‘behaviours’ so you know how to practice and perform the skill effectively.  As a result, this allows you to have a point of reference for assessment and feedback. Additionally, this module highlights the crucial skills of building relationships through rapport-building techniques, underscoring how effective communication, empathy, and trust form the foundation for effective facilitation. This module aims to equip leaders with the facilitation skills necessary to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Module 4: LAF Part 2 - Listening & Supporting

The Leadership as Facilitation Part 2 of this module focuses on the transformative role of leaders in fostering an environment where individuals feel supported and empowered. Central to this module is active listening, a critical skill that involves fully engaging with and understanding the speaker's message. Leaders learn to practice active listening to truly grasp the nuances of their team members' situations. The module also covers techniques for supporting individuals in embracing their current circumstances, gaining a deep understanding of their challenges and opportunities, and guiding them towards transformative solutions that align with their personal and professional aspirations. By honing these facilitative skills, leaders can create a nurturing atmosphere that encourages growth, innovation, and resilience within their teams.

Module 5: LAF Part 3 - Questions & Meta-Questions

The Leadership as Facilitation Part 3 module underscores the pivotal role of strategic questioning in effective facilitation. It begins with an exploration of various "Types of Questions," highlighting how open-ended, closed, probing, and reflective questions serve different purposes in facilitating dialogue. The module then delves into "The Power of Questioning," illustrating how well-crafted questions can unlock insights, drive critical thinking, and foster a collaborative environment. Additionally, it introduces "Using Meta-Questions in Communication," emphasizing how questions about the conversation itself can clarify intentions, surface underlying assumptions, and enhance mutual understanding. This module equips leaders with the advanced questioning techniques needed to guide discussions, inspire innovation, and build stronger, more cohesive teams.

Module 6: Facilitating Change

This module is designed to equip leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively guide their teams through transitions. It begins by examining the "Levels of Learning and Change," which provides a framework for understanding how individuals and organizations adapt and evolve over time. The module then introduces a "Change Model," offering a structured approach to planning, implementing, and sustaining change initiatives. Additionally, it covers "State Induction," a technique used to create a mental and emotional state conducive to embracing change. By mastering these concepts, leaders can facilitate smoother transitions, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and support their teams in navigating the complexities of change with confidence and resilience.

Module 7: A New Paradigm 

This module introduces a transformative approach to personal and organizational growth by exploring progressive concepts and practices. It begins with "Understanding Stages of Development," providing insight into the various phases of individual and collective maturation. The module delves into key concepts such as "Wholeness," which emphasizes integrating all aspects of the self and fostering authentic expression; "Self-Management," which promotes autonomy and responsibility within teams; and "Evolutionary Purpose," which aligns actions with a deeper sense of mission and impact. Finally, it offers guidance on "Where to Start on This Journey," outlining practical steps to begin embracing and implementing these principles. This module aims to inspire and equip individuals and organizations to evolve towards a more holistic, self-sustaining, and purpose-driven existence.

Module 8: Transform your Knowledge into Wisdom

You made it! In this module we take time to celebrate YOU and your journey through this Leadership Essentials course. You will have an opportunity to “count” your, and others, achievements and to “re-measure” your skill set to see how far you’ve come! You will also have a bonus lesson in this module titled “Imposter Syndrome” a look into a common experience for leaders and how to overcome this. We also take time in this module to explore pathways of what might be next for you on your journey.

What kind of technology or equipment do I need?

Our online community and courses can be accessed with any mobile, tablet or personal computer. Works with Windows, Android and iOS Operating systems. 

Do I have to attend all of the Live Sessions?

At MLA we understand that it may sometimes be difficult for you to attend a scheduled live session. That’s why we have provided duplicate group coaching sessions on alternate days, so you can attend one per month, the required amount, for the duration of your course. We would also highly recommend that you attend the Guest Facilitator and Enneagram Discovery Sessions, as they will support the embodiment of your learning and grow your self-awareness rapidly.

What happens if I cancel my course subscription?

At MLA once you cancel your course subscription you will no longer be able to access your course content or group coaching sessions. However, you will always be a welcome member of our MLA community, with ongoing access to our community spaces. If you complete your course before cancelling your subscription, you will have 12 months access to your course content and your cohort specific recordings (as long as you are still employed by LG.)
